THE MYSTERY PEE

There is a strange smell lurking in my kid's bathroom. I can't figure out where it is coming from. All I know is that it smells like boy pee. The grossest, most offensive smell I have a smelt in a while. Boy pee just smells different than girl pee. The smell reminds me of the way Jarrett's old bathroom in college at the house he shared with 3 other guys used to smell.

I have scrubbed the inside of the toilet, the outside of the toilet, washed the floor rug, scrubbed the tile and grout with clorox clean up and yet it is still there. Ok, boy moms out there, how do we get the smell out.

I actually wrote a post about this a while back...I found the pee smell in my bathroom and WAS SO EXCITED!! It was down in the holes, on the attachments, the screws, etc where the toilet seat connects to the bowl itself. Then, it runs down and settles on top of the base (I could see that, I just thought the kids were peeing there or something)...you would have thought I discovered a pot of gold for how excited I was. Well, actually, I kind of did...yuck. My toilet seats actually pop off when you turn the top of the connectors to the left. I hope this helps. The smell still lingers, but at least I know where to find it! Good luck friend!

We bought a house in OKC that had three boys. The pee had actually gotten onto the cement under the flooring. It had to be cleaned with muriatic acid. It was so nasty.

Good luck!!

tell your husband he needs to aim better....

or you could just install a Urinal in your hall bath.

Take the seat off and clean the area where the seat attaches and the screws like Margo mentioned. You may even want to replace the seat - they are not really expensive. If you have a seat cover the pee may be on it too.

Fun times!

Boys pee, how I love it so...NOT!
Margo shared her knowledge of cleaning the smelly stuff many months ago. Unfortunately, my seats don't pop off. I've decided I'm going to "upgrade" our seats. I told my hubby I want all new toilets installed & then we are going to have pee training ; )
Thanks for your comment yesterday! It really has been a blessed transition. I will pray for your new adventure! I'm believing it will be great. Jman's teacher is Mrs. Tooley. There are a TON of "1st girls" at NE. Very nice group of women! Oh & I met another homeschool family enrolling yesterday from 1st Baptist. Her name is Jennifer & she teaches w/Amy Davis on Sundays. Such a small world around here ; )
Very nice family!
