Family Fun Night

Once a week we try to have a family fun night. This has become more important to us as the children have gotten older and our schedules have gotten busier. Especially since we have stopped homeschooling I struggle with the fact that we aren't together as much as I would like. We always have a great time spending time together no matter what it is we are doing. I have been running out of ideas lately and wanted to try something new so I made a Family Fun Night Jar. The kids decorated an old Mason Jar and I added strips of paper with ideas on them. The kids close their eyes and pick a piece of paper. Friday night Madelyn picked "Powers Out" We played games in the dark with a lantern and candles. They thought it was great. Nathan wanted to pick a new strip of paper out of our jar Saturday night as well.

Here is what I came up with but I am wanting to add more ideas. Leave me a comment with your ideas and we can compile a fun list for us all to use with our families.

Game Night
Movie Night
Go out for Dessert
Watch Family Movies
Sleepover in the Family Room
Card Night
Wii Night
Art Night
Powers Out (play games in the dark, flashlight tag)
Puzzle Party
Hiking (summer time)
Spend the night in the backyard in a tent (summer)

Good ideas!
I'm thinking NO WAY on the campout, though. :)
I might have to try this.

I did Widney Wednesdays which are themed family fun nights. I am in the process of changing my blog so they are on there under the heading of Family Fun Nights. I got the idea from the queen of family fun nights
(she puts mine to shame) at whittakerwoman.typepad.com If I typed her address wrong, you go to my site and can link to all of her ideas from one of my Family Nights.

I asked Whittaker Woman where she gets her ideas - birthday party themes!! You can google birthday party themes and it pops up complete ideas from decorations, to food, to activities. I started off doing things we had - like airplanes and pirates (not together). My kids love it and ask for it all the time.
